My next trip lead me to Vobster Quay, Stromest UK, to attend « Tekcamp 2013 ». This excellent idea come from Martin Stanton and won the Eurotek 2012 innovation award. The aim of this five days event is to give the opportunity to any diver curious about technical diving to become safer, better and more confident. The attendees have the chance to meet, discuss and participate in workshops with some of the biggest names in technical diving from all the major UK training agencies – IANTD, TDI, SSI, PADI TecRec and GUE. This is all in a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
As I really want to start technical diving it was the perfect occasion to get advice on my gear configuration, to improve and learn some useful skill as propulsion techniques, stage handling or failures management. I also had the chance to try exciting (and addictive) techniques like underwater scooter and rebreather diving. Tekcamp was also the chance to hear talks from top explorer such as Lamar Hires, Kevin Gurr and Phil short. I must say this week was quite demanding with two training dives a day, but was also a lot of laugh, priceless advices and inspirational meeting. Loved it!
