I was lucky enough to spend few days at Agulhas House in August this year. It was probably the most relaxing dive time of my life! The owner Brett Louw have created a beautiful guest house in a little stunning colourful town, which is the perfect place to take some time out for diving!
It was an amazing opportunity for me to learn more about the South African sharks. At the time I was there, the owner organised a shark biology course for people of all ages. It incorporated fieldwork in order to help students understand theory, develop skills and to integrate their knowledge. This town is a very good place to to build a better understanding about sharks due that it is possible to find many species, like oceanic black tips, tigers, duskys, reggae tooth, zambezi (South African for bull shark) and even hammerheads!
The owner and Nicki Gibson, the caretaker, made me feel completely welcome and relaxed, and even made a birthday party for me at the bar of the town. She picked me up in Durban and since then I knew we will become very good friends…
At this place I felt I was at home! I hope to go back there one day 🙂
